Patrick “Rick” Evan Brown - KØSU (Colorado QRP Club member # 100) August 26, 1946 - June 16, 2018 Rick was born in Charleston, Illinois to John and May Brown on August 26, 1946. He moved to Peoria, IL and graduated from Richwoods High School, class of 1964. Rick enlisted in the Air Force in 1965. He served his country proudly at Charleston AFS, Maine; Beale AFB, California; Taegu, South Korea; Peterson AFB, Colorado; and Falcon AFB, Colorado from 1965 to 1991.He earned his BS in Computer Information Systems from Regis University in 1988 and received the Melvin Clarke Academic Excellence Award. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1991. Rick continued his second career by teaching at Denver Technical College as Program Training Manager from 1991 – 1997. He returned to the defense world by working as a Systems Engineer for SAIC from 1997 – 2013. While at Charleston AFS, ME; Rick met and married the love of his life, Helen Gammon. They shared over 45 years together, raising two sons Glenn (Katie) and Brian (Stacy). His granddaughters, Katelyn and Harper brought him great joy. Rick left behind an extended family and group of friends who were precious to him. In addition to his Extra class amateur radio license, Rick aslo held an FCC General Radio Operator’s License and was past President of the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association and a member of the American Radio Relay League.
