Members that have been "Awarded" the Wooden Radio and their "claim to fame"
 

• 2005 Nominations! Vince, KIØRB bravely announced to the CQC Monday night net (147.225 MHz, 08-23-24) that he wasn't able to make any contacts during our 08-22-2004 Summer VHF/UHF FM QSO party, on the previous day, because he was using CW down arround 144.2 MHz...
• 2000 Rich, WØHEP, for accidently "activating" Wyoming while still on the Colorado side of the state line during a club sponsored QRP expedition to our neighboring state to the north...
• 1999 Roger, WBØJNR, earned while giving his boss a ride home from work. Being the young, playful chap that his boss is, the boss mistook Roger's two meter mobile rig for a CB unit and attempted to make contacts on what he believed was Channel 19. At that time the radio was actually resting on the CQC's local simplex frequency 146.445 MHz. Although it was difficult for Roger to discourage his boss from such use, a photo of the Wooden Radio can be seen proudly on display in WBØJNR's shack at: http://www.rogerwendell.com/mystation.html (the picture in the section titled, "previous shacks."
• 1998 Al, KØFRP, for starting a contest the day before it started.
• 1997 Ron, KIØII, for trying to work a cw beacon.
• 1996 Larry, NFØZ, fell asleep with a live mic on the CQC simplex frequency of 146.445 MHz FM.

Please keep those nominations pouring-in for any CQC member you believe deserving of CQC's Wooden Radio Award. Although the present holder of the award usually seeks a replacement, any club member can nominate another. Also, there's no rule that says the award can't change hands frequently or simply take a rest for a few years. Whatever!
